OVERVIEW
Puneet K. Sandhu advises a wide range of employers in all aspects of employment law. She has successfully defended employment discrimination, harassment, and equal pay cases in both state and federal court and in arbitration. Key representations include:
- A leading university in winning a motion for summary judgment in an age and disability discrimination lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court.
- An educational institution in a student disability discrimination and Title IX case, winning summary judgment in the federal district court and defeating the appeal to the Ninth Circuit
- A major retailer in a series of wage and hour class action lawsuits.
- A distributing company in a wage and hour trial in which Ms. Sandhu served as second chair.
In addition, Ms. Sandhu regularly advises clients on local, state and federal employment regulations and legal compliance, including on issues related to equal pay, disability accommodation, employee discipline and termination, and most recently, employment issues arising out of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ms. Sandhu clerked for the Honorable Florence-Marie Cooper of the United States District Court and the Honorable A. Wallace Tashima of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals. Prior to joining the firm, she practiced law at Munger, Tolles & Olson, LLP. Before attending law school, Ms. Sandhu spent two years as a community organizer in South Los Angeles, where her work focused on maintaining and expanding access to health care.
In addition to her work for the firm, Ms. Sandhu is a past president of the South Asian Bar Association Foundation, which is dedicated to organizing, supporting and promoting public interest activities for the benefit of the South Asian community in Southern California. She provides pro bono employment law advice to several non-profit organizations and has also taught employment law as an adjunct professor at Loyola Law School Los Angeles.
